Fujifilm S5 Pro camera + Sigma 135/1.8 Art lens = Dream Team

Here is a quick review of the Fujifilm S5 Pro camera with the Sigma 135/1.8 Art lens with sample photos by Arkadii Shapoval (blog | 500px | see also his previous NR posts):

The legendary Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro camera is based on the Nikon D200, with a Nikon F mount, and an unusual and rare APS-C (Nikon DX) 6 + 6 MP Super CCD SR II sensor, consisting of two types of photodiodes.

The Fujifilm S5 Pro camera cannot control the electromagnetic diaphragm of the Sigma 135 / 1.8 Art. The lens on the camera is recognized as a zoom with a focal length range of 135-135 mm and an aperture range of F / 1.8-F / 1.8. That is why all the images on the Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro are taken exclusively at f/1.8.

Shooting on the Fuji S5 Pro with the Sigma 135/1.8 Art only at an open aperture can be considered a kind of challenge. At the same time, the lens is so sharp that you often don’t want to close the aperture, and you don’t even need to. The AA filter on the Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro is thick enough (especially compared to the Fujifilm FinePix S3 Pro), and that is why the S5 Pro likes the sharpest lenses that compensate for the effects of the AA filter.

The Fujifilm S5 Pro + the Sigma 135/1.8 Art = Dream Team!

I have not noticed how I got almost 10,000 frames with the Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro in just 3 weeks! Let me remind you that the maximum shooting speed of the Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro with the maximum image quality is only 1.5 frames per second. Of course, the S5 Pro cannot reveal the full potential of this lens and the point here is not in testing, but in the exclusive and unusual combination of the ‘old’ and the ‘new’. It is unlikely that someone will repeat such an experiment, which makes such pictures exclusive content. Also shooting with this set of camera and lens is a great and unusual fun!
